June Update

Although there is now no possibility of our birds breeding this year, we still keep a close watch on their activities. Both birds are coming regularly to the nest, sometimes with fish to eat. We hope that they are continuing to build up their relationship, and will want to come back to this nest next year to breed. By then EP will be both older and more mature and experienced.
The tree sparrows are still entertaining us with their antics, coming regularly on to the osprey nest to inspect it. We don't know yet whether they have mananged to breed successfully.

As the month progresses, we have discovered that we have not one, but two, tree sparrow nests built into the underneath of the osprey nest. At least one of these has fledged young.
We continue to get sightings of our ospreys, who are both in good health. Without the stresses of bringing up a family, they can spend their time in a more leisurely fashion, and, of course, they get to keep - and eat  - what they catch! Consequently, both are looking very sleek and fit. No chance to sunbathe recently, as we're been having quite a lot of much needed rain.
