September

After an uneventful summer, with intermittent sightings of our ospreys, we now assume that they are on their way to West Africa for the winter. During the season, the two birds appeared to be together much of the time and EP has been seen bringing in bigger and better fish to the nest for H/D, so we are hopeful that they will have a sucessful return next year.

The female, H/D, was last sighted on August 17th, although she may well have been in the area after that date. The male, EP, was last sighted on August 30th, though again , we cannot be sure if he's actually left yet. Let's hope that the weather is better on the return journey than it was in the spring!

Now, in the last week of September, we can be fairly certain that both our ospreys have left on their migration to W Africa. We wish them "Bon voyage" and eagerly await their return in the spring of 2008. Watch this space!
