Mid April

Just when we were beginning to worry, our female H/D arrived back on her nest in Galloway!! She was there on the nest the morning of April 14th, and we were very happy. For the next few days, the pair were on and off the nest, but don't seem very settled together.

EP tried to mate , but H/D was not co-operative. He has brought in a few fish, but not big and not often, that we see. We then had a spell of very windy weather, which made it no easier for an inexperienced male to mate, but he tried several times. EP was still bringing in nest material, and the nest is now very large, despite the 'pilfering' by the sparrows and starlings, which continues.
