Growing Fast

A full week on from hatching, Chick No.2 continues to grow in strength and size. This morning brought another day of glorious sunshine and our chick was fed pieces of mullet by mum H/D.

Our chick seems keen to explore its surroundings and aided by a good strong pair of legs is beginning to crawl tentatively around the nest whenever H/D stands up to feed herself. While H/D is doing the bulk of the sitting on the nest and all of the feeding, dad EP is certainly not slacking in his duties, continuing to provide a plentiful supply and varied diet of both freshwater and saltwater fish.

We are still looking for that first crack on egg 3 to give our chick a little brother or sister and to give H/D her 11th hatched chick since 2004. While on family matters, we also eagerly await further news from WWT Caerlaverock for any new developments with AW and his offspring. Latest news is that we can still only confirm one chick in the nest, and H/D may have to wait a couple of days more to be a Grandmother for the second time.
